Driving 450 miles to meet our newest family member was well worth the drive. She's beautiful.
Driving on the beach is very cool. Mark let us borrow his Cherokee and we were able to drive it right onto the beach. It's great to be able to pop the hatch and simply get your beach gear out right where you need it.
If I ever win the lottery, I may have to buy a place in Seaside. Didn't know how I'd like the area before going, but we all fell in love with the town and that whole stretch of the beach on 30-A. I'm ready to go back.
Thursday interstate traffic is much better than Sunday afternoon interstate traffic.
If you ever see a sign on the door of a restaurant warning you that they're short-staffed and the wait may be longer than normal, believe the sign. With that in mind, avoid the Steak and Shake in Prattville, Alabama. For that matter, avoid exit 179 in Prattville altogether. With the exception of the Chick-fil-A, the restaurants and gas stations are pretty messed up.
Back to reality.....
